Karachi, Feb 19: India on Saturday decided to rest Sachin Tendulkar and Irfan Pathan for the inconsequential fifth and final ODI against Pakistan here.
The Indians, who have already clinched the series by taking an invincible 3-1 lead, had given enough indications that they would rest some of their top players for the match. Editor's Choice
Tendulkar and Pathan, who have featured in all the matches since the tour began last month, will give way to bowlers Ramesh Powar and Murali Kartik in the 12 for the game on Sunday.
Left-arm spinner Kartik played only in the first ODI at Peshawar, while Powar, who was flown in as a replacement for the injured Harbhajan Singh, will get his first opportunity to display his wares.
