Kollur (Udupi district), Feb 19: Union minister Sushil Kumar Shinde visited the renowned Shri Mookambika Temple here on Saturday and offered Chandika Homa ('havan') to the deity.
Temple's administrative officer H M Kali welcomed the minister, who offered special prayers. The priests, after puja, gave him the prasadam.
The police had arranged strict security during the minister's visit.
He thus joined the long list of VIPs and celebrities to have visited this temple, which has devotees across the state also. The late Tamil Nadu CM M G Ramachandran was a steadfast devotee and had reputedy donated a gold sword to the deity during one of his visits.
