Mangalore, Sep 11: A 'Run for Bharat' involving students was organized by Swami Vivekananda 150th birth anniversary committee from Jyothi circle to Nehru Maidan here on Wednesday September 11.

The run was organized in view of the 150th year of Vivekananda's inspirational speech at Chicago Parliament of the World's Religions in 1883.

Dattatreya H, RSS member speaking to the participants said, "We must follow the ideals of Vivekananda. Every individual is divine and should invoke spirituality."

He advised youth to come forward and take an active part in the development of India and make it among the top countries of the world.

The run witnessed approximately 2,000 students from across different colleges of Mangalore, Udupi, Moodbidri town etc.

A few of the colleges that took part in this event were Alva's College, NITTE, Canara PU college, KPT, NSS union etc, along with scores of RSS members.

If Vivekananda was alive today he would have made known the hindu ideals all over the world. He would never allow any minority bashing anywhere in India. He would have defended any religion in India. He would never allow Babri demolition nor Godra incidents. He would never come in the way of poor people's eating habbits. But the same people gathered here would have eliminated him as they did with Mahatma.

We are Indians.. We live in India or Bharath whatever you call it. Then why should we Bharatheeyans run for Bharath? I could not find any logic in "run for Bharath"!

If we run for India then it's ok. We can't join with those who run for "Bharath". There's difference between two terms. For more information, Please study RSS's hate ideology of Hindu Rastra!

What a waste of productive man hours. How can India progress with people like this. Take Japan or Singapore as an simple example. They don't have such idiotic runs to progress.

The Govt. should ban such runs as it creates traffic problems for hours. Let them have it after 9.30pm and let us see how many would turn up for it.

Mr.Pillay , you are certainly right. This was a RSS sponsored run. There was traffic chaos in Mangalore and the Traffic Police looked helpless.

The District Administration should ban such runs / protests during peak hours esp. on Mangalore's narrow streets and in the heart of the City. The District Administration has the powers to do it.

Let the legacy and history of Swamy Vivekananda prevail all over India so that our youth may be able to realize and appreciate the emphasis that he placed in the 19th century towards athletics, music and most importantly the faith and value towards Hinduism.

Swamy Vivekananda thru his visit to America at the age of 30 and sharing his values on Dharma, Yoga and the overall philosophy of life has inspired so many great leaders of America including Martin Luther King Jr., J. D. Rockefeller and many more.

Leaders such as Vivekananda, Mahatma Gandhi, Acharya Vinoba Bhavfe, and even Mother Theresa create a new awakening in the conscience of the world that India is a country to rely upon for all the daily mutual cooperation and collaborations that will automatically lead us to a life of mutual co-existence.

With the foregoing facts and realities of life, the world can extinguish all the fires of hatred, vengeance, grudge and animosities and make this world a better place to live.

What a joy to witness from a distance our young men and women in Mangalore are marching towards the rally honoring Swamy Vivekananda while there are so many disturbances taking place elsewhere in this troubled world.
