Attacks on mosques in Iraq kill 31


Baghdad, Sep 13 (IANS): At least 31 people were killed and 47 others wounded in bomb attacks near two Sunni mosques in Iraq Friday, police said.

Car bomb targeted the mosque in the town of Ottomaniya, 15 km southwest of the provincial capital city of Baquba, soon after Friday prayers, reported Xinhua citing a police source as saying.

Atleast 30 people were killed and 42 were injured in the attack, said the police.

Meanwhile, one was killed and five others were wounded when a roadside bomb hit the Sunni mosque in Qarataba, some 110 km northeast of Baquba, he added.
