Dubai, Sep 14 : UAE’s St Mary's Welfare Association of Shirva (USWAS) celebrated the Monthi Fest or Nativity Feast of the Blessed Virgin Mary at Apple International School on Friday September 13 under the leadership of President Nelson Castelino
Around 150 Shirva Parishioners and Guests were gathered to celebrate the Monthi Fest. Mr. Nitin Castelino, the Master of the ceremony briefed the gathering about the importance of Monthi Fest. A warm welcome was addressed to the gathering by the President Mr. Nelson Castelino.
The traditional celebration commenced with a procession headed by Jacintha D’Souza who carried the statue of Infant Mary along with newly wedded brides who carried ‘blessed Novem’, which was specially flown from Shirva parish for the occasion. Prayer to worship Mother Mary was led by Mrs. Veena D’sa and Mr. Roshan Menezes followed by offering flowers by children, young and elders while singing the hymns ‘Sakkad Sangatha Mellyam & Moriyek Hogolsiam’.Blessed Novem mixed in milk was served to all. Children were offered with sweets and gifts. Newly wedded couple Pius & Aldrina D’Souza, Rajesh & Navya Menezes and Milan & Jenifer D’Souza were honoured and blessed by Mrs. & Jacintha D’Souza on behalf of USWAS.
Flower bouqet were presented to Sponsors Mr. Franky D’Souza and Mrs. Lavina Quadras. Founder President Mr. Franky D’Souza in his message spoke on how Mother Mary has given him success in his life and wished the same to all. The cultural programme commenced with an dance performance from Hannah and Sarah for “ Tuje Charani” Devotional Hymn of Mother Mary . Ginelle and Lisha performed on the most happening song “1234 - dance floor”. Shelvin Mathias and Cleone D’sa gave a stunning performance on the numbers “Dilli wali and Balam pichkari”. Prashant Sequiera and Joshal D’Souza entertained the crowd with some wonderful Konkani songs and excellent music.Boskyambyagar Denis Mathias, Manoj Menezes, Canute D’Souza, Claudy D’Leema, Lavina Tauro and Vanita Menezes performed short comedy skits which left the audience thoroughly entertained. Various spot games were efficiently conducted for kids and adults by Nitin Castelino. A sumptuous traditional vegetarian meal and vorn was served to all. The programme concluded with a rocking baila on the dance floor. The gathering made all the Shirva members to feel the united family bond yet again.

Dear USWAS committee members/members & all who witnessed this celebration, looking at the photograps, one can clearly understand that the celebrations were GRAND!I missed the celebrations this time due to my various other commitments.
