Mangalore, Feb 23: With several local leaders criticizing the silver jubilee celebration of New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT) in Bangalore, the Trust has clarified that it celebrated its silver jubilee in Bangalore in order to create a conclusive environment for market.

The trust has decided to organise a similar kind of programme in the premises of NMPT, in March, stated a press release.

Compared to the previous financial year, NMPT has witnessed a huge fall in goods processing, with the KIOCL ceasing its operations.

The programme was organized in Bangalore after holding deliberations with Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) and other organisations. Importers, exporters, agency representatives, labour leaders and trustees have been consulted in this regard, the release added.
