Kolkata, Sep 16 (IANS): A minor girl was raped by a 22-year-old man in Kolkata. The accused has been arrested, police said Monday.
The six-year-old girl was forcibly taken by the man to a neighbouring house in Topsia area where he raped her Sunday night, police said.
When the girl informed her parents, the accused was thrashed by the residents and handed over to police. The girl was hospitalised with serious injuries.
Trinamool Congress leader and West Bengal Fire Services Minister Javed Ahmed Khan visited the girl at the hospital and assured that the offender will be punished.
"The offender has been arrested and we assure that the administration will ensure that the offender is given strict punishment," Khan said.
