Moodbidri, Feb 23: In one of the major raids conducted in recent times, the Moodbidri police seized a large stock of explosives from a shed owned by Bobba Power Project company near Maroor here on Wednesday February 22.
The police have seized 2,500-gelaitine sticks and detonators worth Rs 15,000 stored in 11 cartoons in the shed situated at Maroor.
The preparatory works of the Bobba Power Project have been started and the contractors are busy levelling the ground, bursting the rocks with the help of gilettin sticks. But the sources said that these explosives were availed and stored illegally.
The police led by circle inspector Mathew Thomas and inspector Umapaty conducted the raid at the said shed. The police have arrested Sadanand, son of the late Doomanna of Mangalore, Ramesh, son of Muttayya Sherigar from Suratkal in this regard. They have already been produced before the court, which in turn released them on conditional bail.
The Moodbidri police are investigating the case.
