Liquor smuggler held in Gurgaon


Gurgaon, Sep 16 (IANS): A man was arrested here on charges of smuggling liquor and 730 cartons of liquor he was transporting in a truck were seized, police said Monday.

The Crime Branch arrested Mohan Singh, 26, a resident of Rajasthan's Ajmer district, and seized 420 cartons of full bottles and 310 cartons of half-bottles of brands like Royal Stag, McDowell and Imperial Blue.

"The liquor was loaded from Gurgaon and was to be delivered on the Maharashtra border," officer Ganesh Singh told IANS.

The liquor consignment was hidden under cement bags and was detected at a checkpost at Sohna. Mohan Singh was driving the truck.

Gurgaon Judicial Magistrate (First Class) Varsha Sharma sent him to three days police remand.
