Dubai, February 24: It was all due to organized hard work, unending exuberance and great goodwill. Definitely, Shirva parishioners gathered with great spirit of unity and enthusiasm. The organizers did wonderfully well to make 'Shiva Vodlem Festh', a grand celebration of their parish feast back home.
It was an unforgettable day of celebration. The venue was all bright and brilliant. The organizers looked all energetic and enthusiastic. The performers seemed all set to deliver. And the crowd was fascinating. The venue, The Ratsy Club at Karama Hotel, Dubai.
The event took-off with a welcome song ‘Shirvam-gar ami’ by members of USWAS committee. Anitha and Sharon, the emcees took-over the event with grand style and sophistication. Music by Clements gave a magical mood of exhilaration to the entire hall.
‘Vodda Ponda’, by Joy Tina, Canute, Andrea, Asha and others sang some melodious numbers in Konkani, English and Hindi. Skits, group dances and hilarious games by the comperes entertained the crowd to the core. A non-stop bayla at the end gave a fantastic finish to the event.
Earlier, in the stage event, Joseph Mathias of Al Hamid Group Abu Dhabi (main sponsors), Robert D’Sa of Ceasors (main sponsors), Benedict Fernandes, proprietor of Waterman Marine Equipment Trading (co-sponsors), Fr Anthony Serrao, parish priest of Bondel parish, Fr Freddy, parish priest of Dubai parish were on stage as guests of honour and spoke. Denis Gomes, president of USWAS welcomed the guests and gathering. Sponsors were honoured during the stage event. Manoj Menezes, secretary of USWAS read-out a detailed report of the past year’s events and achievements by the parish organization. Ivan Mathias, vice president of USWAS proposed vote of thanks.
