Beijing, Sep 18 (IANS): A suspect behind the attack on one of China's richest men has been arrested, police said Wednesday.

Beverage tycoon Zong Qinghou, 67, was attacked near his residence in Hangzhou, capital of Zhejiang province Friday, Xinhua reported.

Zong is the board chairman of beverage giant Hangzhou Wahaha Group Co. Ltd., and the second richest man in China with a personal fortune of 115 billion yuan (around $18 billion).

He was sent to a hospital for treatment for injuries to tendons in two fingers of his left hand. He said he suffered only minor injuries and was now recovering well.

The suspect, a 49-year-old man surnamed Yang, was captured Friday.

Police said Yang, a resident of Suzhou in Jiangsu province, came to Hangzhou earlier this year, hoping to find a job there.

After he failed to find employment elsewhere, Yang hoped for a job in Zong's company, according to police.

On Friday, he came to the residential quarters where Zong lives and met him. On being refused a job, the man attacked the tycoon, police said.
