New Delhi, Sep 18 (IANS): A Delhi court Wednesday sent Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) bomb-maker and terrorist Abdul Karim Tunda to seven days' custody of Delhi Police.

Metropolitan Magistrate Amit Bansal sent Tunda, 70, to police custody till Sep 18 after Delhi Police investigators said they were yet to identify those who allegedly helped him illegally bring Pakistani nationals into India.

"The contacts of Abdul Karim Tunda who helped in illegal infiltration of Pakistani national... are yet to be identified and traced in Uttar Dinajpur in West Bengal," police said.

Tunda was presented in the court after the end of his four days police custody.

Police sought another seven days' custody of Tunda saying he was to be taken to Pilkhuwa in Uttar Pradesh from where explosives were to be recovered and some co-accused were to be arrested.

Due to ther recent communal tension in Pilkhuwa, they could not go inside the town while he was in their custody, police told the court.

Tunda was to be brought face-to-face with arrested co-accused Allauddin and Mohd Zakariya and taken to West Bengal for arresting other co-accused, the remand application of police said.

In the custodial interrogation, Tunda had disclosed that Maulvi Nizam and Mohammed Basiruddin had helped him in illegal infiltration of Pakistani and Bangladeshi nationals through the India-Bangladesh border, the police application said.

Nizam and Basiruddin were arrested earlier, police said.

The LeT terrorist is suspected to be involved in over 40 bombings in the country.

An aide of fugitive don Dawood Ibrahim, the terrorist was also wanted for suspected involvement in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts.

Tunda was arrested in Uttarakhand's Banbasa area close to the Nepal border when he was trying to enter India Aug 16.
