Mangalore, Feb 26: Hasan Asif of Karnataka bagged as many as three gold medals in the National Powerlifting tournament for special children held in city from Thursday February 23.
Asif has also registered a national record to its credit. In the age group above 22 years and in the 90 kg and above section, Asif created a national record by lifting 330 kg. His achievement is being considered as national record as no special child has until now has succeeded in this category in any of the tournaments.
Nearly 11 teams from various states of the country are participating in the tournament.
On the first day, the host Karnataka grabbed three first prizes. Sanjay Kumar, Raghunath and Hasan Asif stood first in various divisions.
