Dikshit inaugurates skill centre


New Delhi, Sep 19 (IANS): Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit Thursday inaugurated a skill development centre here, built in collaboration with Singapore.

"The centre is in tune with skill development programme of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh who has set the target of providing skills to 500 million people," Dikshit said.

The centre will function from Vivek Vihar in east Delhi till its buildings at Jaunapur in south Delhi are built. It would provide vocational training to 15,000 people annually.

Initially, admission to hospitality operations and retail merchandising and other streams would be offered to 320 students.
