Mangalore, Feb 27:  The Navodaya Self Help Groups have become household name in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttara Kannada districts because of their lucky coupons. An offshoot of the SHG concept, the lucky draw for winning an Indica car, Maruthi car and diamond necklace was held on Sunday.

Superintendent of Police B Dayananda picked the lucky winners.

The results are as follows
First prize: Coupon no A-223732
Second prize: Coupon no E-027451
Third prize: Coupon no G-092716, E-188119, F-277722
The lucky draw also announced a total of 1,059 prizes.

Karnataka State Apex Bank President M N Rajendra Kumar who was the chief guest on the occasion voiced the need to provide loans at the rate of six per cent interest to women self help groups just like the loans provided for farmers through co-operative societies. He requested the chief minister to sanction loans at the rate of six per cent interest to the self-help groups.

District Co-operative Associations deputy manager H S Nagarajayya, Dakshina Kannada district Co-operative Union president P B Diwakar Rai, Udupi district president Krishan Hegde, MASS president Sridhar Bhide, District Co-operative Bank vice-president Ramesh Shetty were also present.
