Nigeria ready to host African squash meet

Abuja (Nigeria), Sep 20 (IANS): Nigeria Squash Federation president Adamu Erena said Friday that the West African country is ready to host the All-African Junior Championship next year.

Erena told reporters here that the newly renovated national stadium has been equipped with the required squash facilities although some others needed to be upgraded before the games. "We have the facilities and all it takes to host the games but the facilities need to be upgraded. The ministry of sports has taken the responsibility to make sure that they improve the facilities we have. We have equipped two more courts and the only thing we need now is to fix the glass bar on them which, I think, can be completed before the games commence," he was quoted as saying by Xinhua.

The NSF president, however, rued squash not being in the Olympics.
