BJP MLA Suresh Rana arrested for Muzaffarnagar riots

Lucknow, Sep 20 (PTI): In the first major arrest of a politician for the Muzaffarnagar violence, BJP MLA Suresh Rana was today apprehended by Uttar Pradesh police on charges of making provocative speeches to incite riots.

Rana, who is BJP MLA from Thana Bhawan in riot-affected Shamli district, was arrested by Lucknow police while he was on his way to Gomti Nagar from the party office this evening, immediately after the Uttar Pradesh Assembly was adjourned sine die.

With UP government under attack over delay in arrest of of MLAs accused of inciting violence in Muzaffarnagar, IG (Law and Order) R K Vishwakarma had yesterday said the arrest was being "deliberately avoided" as the session of state Assembly was in progress.

"On the basis of the application moved by Muzaffarnagar police, Rana has been arrested  by Lucknow police and will be produced in the court," Vishwakarma said today.

He said that a case has been lodged against Rana under sections 188 (knowingly disobeying orders to maintain public order), 153 A (promoting enmity between groups on the basis of religion) 353 (provoking with intent to cause riots) and 435 (damage to property) of IPC and criminal law amendment act, which is non-bailable.

Rana was among the 16 politicians and community leaders against whom a Muzaffarnagar court had on Wednesday issued non-bailable arrest warrants.

The communal clashes in Muzaffarnagar and adjoining areas claimed 47 lives and displaced over 40,000 people.

Regarding the arrest of other persons named in the FIRs relating to Muzaffarnagar riots, the police officer said that as of now 72 people were wanted.

"As and when further arrests are made, the media will be informed," he said.

The officer had said that there was a process for arrest of MLAs while the session was in progress.

"We cannot arrest MLAs from Vidhan Sabha and for any action outside the Assembly, Speaker has to be informed," the IG had said.

A local court in Muzaffarnagar on Wednesday had issued arrest warrants against 16 politicians and community leaders including BSP MP Qadir Rana, BJP MLAs Sangeet Som and Bhartendu Singh, BSP MLAs Noor Saleem and Maulana Jameel, Congress leader Saeeduzaman and BKU chief Naresh Tikait.

They are wanted for violating prohibitory orders and provoking communal tension by inflammatory speeches in different meetings (mahapanchayats) in the district, police said.

High drama had unfolded in front of UP Assembly on Wednesday with BJP leaders and workers, led by Uma Bharati, protesting against the possible arrest of party MLA Som.

SP can take action only against BJP. If Akhilesh takes action against Ajam Khan who belongs to his own party then SP will loose Minority Vote Bank, and if takes action against Congress MLA then CBI will be in his compound very next day. Yesterday Mulayam Singh Yadav got clean chit from CBI and same day U.P. police arrested BJP MLA. This is called POLI"TRICKS".

SP which is brother& Best friend of Congress in using law enforcement & investigation bodies to score against opposition is again into into cowardly act under the instructions of...(no prize for guessing).

Its very clear that the order has come from 10 Janpath because as a return gift, CBI closed corruption case against Mulayam Singh Yadav today. This definitely cannot be a co incidence. Do those KATJU's 10% people of India need any chit against people like " Pawar, Karunanidhi, & Mulayam(all are obviously in khangress good books)???
Today in one day Indian Mujahideen member Afzal Usmani escapes from court from Congress govts police custody & at the same time Khangress MP Rashid Masood(5 Rs Meal wala) has been convicted for medical admission scam by CBI and the Khangress wants to divert the nation attention from such a big news that it took help of SP in return for clean chit to its leader.
This is the Democracy guys the pseudo secular party is practicing in India.

    Dear Rajesh

You have connected so many dots in this , did you forget the biggest dot ? Amit Shah & Modi ??

Amit Shah appointed in BJP & riots start , this is the biggest dot you forget to connect . This is the only policy Fekku & his Guru can employ to get votes . And one more is fake development !

I stand in Humbleness and gratefulness for you that you dint link Amit Shah & Modi to MODI poster burning in Konaje by your friends. We cannot accept you to connect better dots than these from people who linked Modi to Boghgaya blasts just with the analogy that he asked people of Gujrath to teach lessen to JDU. Good luck and keep continuing.

Frankly Humbleness & Gratefulness is not expected from supporters of Mass murderer , maybe you are an exception i guess.

The dots of Amit Shah & UP & riots are very well connected . Uploading fake videos to add more flames to fire ! What more can be expected from Communal parties like this .

And for all the Fekkuu supporters had anyone even heard his name before 20032 riots ??? Only after riots he became famous with communal backing !

Modi and Amit Shah entered into election foray recently. What about other 32 riots in 18 months under the watch of SP Govt.? Can you blame Modi and Amit Shah for all that? Why UPA not make Akhilesh accountable? If any window panel of a religious place broken by miscreants in K'taka, the Governor asks for President rule why double standard now? What about AK 47, RDX and all other weapons confiscated from SP - MP/MLA/Leaders? Why not any action against hate mongers from Congi/SP & BSP?

Jossey Saldandha - Speak positively. Whole nation knws who was responsible for the riots. Footage shows it clearly. SP minister ws the one who started and he was telling people to act to this riots. Police were not allowed to take actions and later arresting BJP MLA ?? First let them arrest those who started it.

What you mean you support modi and not support hate speech? all political leaders grow after their hate speech and the modi become hero after gujarath riots ( with support of sanghapariwar and kind of media) and then start feku mantra on "development".

In lighter vein - Friday arrests gives the Cops a chance to sit with the MLA\Ministers\etc., have a chat\make pleasantries, good meals for three days and make merry.

Three days of enjoyment for the MLA

    After that, as Monday comes
    "DEVERE BALLA YENU GATHI ANTHA"

The first person who started inciting people with provocative speech should be held responsible entirely, for the fiasco that followed, because his hate speech made others respond and the situation to get out of hand. Those kind of people should not be allowed to speak in public again.

Others who are breaking prohibitory orders too should be arrested and be punished.

These people know about the law well as many of them were themselves lawmakers and if they court arrest by protesting outside UP Assembly and such public places, they should be arrested and punished too.
