Botswana rugby sevens team leaves for Kenya


Gaborone (Botswana), Sep 21 (IANS): The Botswana national sevens' rugby team left for Nairobi to compete in this year's 2013 Safaricom sevens' tournament.

The 14-member squad is expected to prepare for their first match Saturday, reports Xinhua.

Coach Kabo Batsile, prior to the team's departure Friday said they have been preparing intensively for the tournament and expected good results.

The team had regrouped in camp at the end of August where they also had a brief training camp with experienced trainers from Blue Bulls rugby in neighbouring South Africa.

Safaricom tournament enters its 15th edition this year and stands out among some best sevens tournament in the continent. The tournament has over the years managed to attract some top teams from Fiji, France and Samoa.
