Mangalore, Sep 21: The election of office bearers of Post Graduate All College Students Association was held at SDM Law College auditorium on Saturday September 21.
Prabhakar Neermarga the Mangalore University deputy registrar, MLA from Puttur Shakuntala D Shetty and Devraj K director of SDM Business Management College inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp.
Former general secretary Ashwith, Mangalore Post Graduation College president Arjun Bipin Raj, Mangalore District Pre-University College president Shamith and SDM PU College convenor Uttam Alva were also present.
In his presidential address, Prabhakar Neermarga said, “The All College Students Association which is working towards the upliftment of the students is representing the youth in the society.”
He assured that the Mangalore University would provide complete support to All College Students Association.
Devraj K, director of SDM Business Management College started with a quote made by Abdul Kalam, “In the year 2020, India will have the super power of the youth and by 2025 around 40,000 million people in India will be skillfully trained professionals.”
Shakuntala D Shetty, MLA from Puttur, said, “Youngsters must be encouraged and motivated by their elders as they are the leaders of tomorrow. They must not be misled and should be taught to work for the society.”
She prayed that the blessings of God Manjunatheswara and Goddess Mangaladevi, abide with each youth in the society. She also said, “Women must be encouraged and I wish that a girl would be elected as a president in future.”
The entire ceremony was conducted under the leadership of election officer advocate Dinaker Shetty. Student leaders from 109 colleges took part in the election process.
Dinakar Shetty, the legal advisor of the association announced the results.

Organizing secretary – Archana from Beasent College
Sports secretary – Mohommed Aslam from Sayadri College and Vinay from Mangalore University
Treasurer – Mohit Kumar from Beasent College and Priyanka Sheety from KS Hegde College
After the announcement of results oath ceremony was conducted. The programme concluded with a victory rally.
