New Delhi, Sep 23 (IANS): Italian super sports car manufacturer Automobili Lamborghini Monday said it will sell around 20 vehicles in India this year.
"We will sell around 20-plus cars this year. In 2012, we sold 17 cars and in 2011 we sold 15," Stephan Winkelmann, president and chief executive, said while unveiling the company's first showroom in Delhi.
"India could do much better (sales). But there are challenges. Traffic, road conditions, taxation are not helping us," Winkelmann said.
However, the company is hopeful of increasing its sales to about 30-40 cars per year in some years time.
"It (potential) is very much there, due to the rising high net individuals (HNI) number here."
The company is also planning to open its third showroom in South India to cash in on the growing HNI numbers in that region.
"India is an important market for us. Hence we are looking at expanding our network. We are in discussion stage right now. We are interested (to open) in Bangalore," Winkelmann added.
The company currently offers two model ranges in India -- Gallardo and Aventador.
The Volkswagen Group company has sold about 90 cars in the country till date, a third of which were sold in the past two years.
