Mangalore, Feb 28: In one of the biggest seizures of hemp in recent times in the city, 1.250 kgs of hemp was seized in a hotel in the city on Monday February 27 night by DCIB police, led by inspector Tilakchandra.  The police have also arrested 3 persons in this regard.

The arrested have been identified as Satish (31) from Kerala, Mohammad Hasim (24) of Badriya and Asif (31), a resident of Bengre here.  The value of the seized hemp is not yet known.

The police raided Hotel Sheroon near the city railway station on Monday, after receiving a sure tip off.  At the time of the raid, the arrested were filling hemp to smaller packets.  The police arrested them and seized the hemp.  The subsequent investigation revealed that they had been involved in the trading of hemp in the city for quite a long time.
