Mangalore, Feb 28: Kanara Chambers of Commerce and Industry president Srinivas Rao is among the 3 persons appointed as directors to the much anticipated Mangalore Special Economic Zone (SEZ) project. Narayanswamy of KIADB and Balyan of MRPL are two other directors of the SEZ.
This was announced in a press conference by Srinivas Rao here on Monday February 27.
A total of 2,450 acres of land has been marked out for the SEZ out of which Karnataka Industrial Development Board (KIADB) has already procured 840 acres of land. If the Multi Product Zone too is taken into account, the total land required may go upto 3,000 acres. The digital mapping of the land has already been carried out. Notice has already been issued for the land acquisition.
Srinivas Rao also told the press persons that the office of the SEZ would soon start functioning in the city. The project will be launched during the Prime Minister's visit to the district in the month of March 2006.
KCCI treasurer Santosh D’Souza and secretary Padmanabh Kamat was also present on the occasion.
