Mangalore, Sep 24: “Congress has failed to appoint a mayor since last seven months after the MCC election. It is defaming the constitution. Although there is reservation for women, Congress is purposefully not providing opportunity for women. It has made an understanding with JDS and brought stay orders from the court. When common people approach MCC, officers unnecessarily delay their work. People have to wait for months to obtain birth, death certificates. The present government has encouraged corruption in MCC. Congress and its ministers are deceiving people without providing proper facilities,” said MLC Monappa Bhandary.

He addressed the gathering during the protest staged against the inefficient functioning of MCC and for not appointing a mayor and a deputy mayor. The protest was held in front of MCC, here, on Monday September 23.

Slamming Riyaz Bhatkal and Yasin Bhatkal for their terrorism activities in India, Bhandary said, “Indirectly Congress is responsible for the terrorism activities in India. Though terrorism is spreading in the country, Congress has failed to prevent it. Congress should immediately appoint a mayor for MCC and provide proper governance to the people.”

Balakrishna Bhat said, “Congress leaders are deliberately not providing facilities for the wards of BJP corporators. Earlier during the BJP rule, there was 24 hours water supply in the city. But immediately after Congress came to power in MCC people are facing scarcity of water.  There are no street lights, proper roads. The government is not serious about these problems. They are only concerned about their power.”

Prathap Simha Nayak, district BJP president, N Yogish Bhat, former MLA also spoke on the occasion.

Ravishankar Mijjar, Ramesh S, Vedhavyasa, Rajesh Kottary, Baskar Salian and other women’s wing leaders were present.
