Hyderabad defeat T&T by four wickets


Mohali, Sep 25 (IANS): Sunrisers Hyderabad defeated Trinidad and Tobago by four wickets in a Champions League Twenty20 Group B match at the Punjab Cricket Association Stadium here Tuesday.

Chasing a target of 161, the Hyderabad squad finished at 164/6 with three balls to spare to kitty four points from their first match of the tournament.

Put in to bat, the Caribbean side put on 160/8 in their quota of 20 overs. Experienced batsman Darren Bravo anchored the innings with his knock of 66, which included five boundaries and four sixes. Bravo got decent support from opener Evin Lewis (22) and skipper-wicketkeeper Denesh Ramdin (21).

Pacer Ishant Sharma, Thisara Perera and Darren Sammy notched up two wickets each for the Sunrisers Hyderabad.

In response, the Indian outfit struggled at the start but all-rounder Perera held the innings together with an unbeaten 57 off 32 balls which included four boundaries and sixes each.

Offie Sunil Narine tweaked his way through the middle order of the Hyderabad squad, finishing with figures of 4/9 in his four overs. But that wasn’t enough to stop the Indian side from winning and bagging four points.
