Amanda Bynes mentally unfit for trial, says lawyer

Los Angeles, Sep 25 (IANS): Actress Amanda Bynes' lawyer Rich Hutton says she is unable to appear for a trial as she is mentally unfit.

The 27-year-old was scheduled to appear in the court for her driving under influence (DUI) arrest in West Hollywood back in April 2012, reports tmz.com.

Hutton told the judge that Amanda did not have the mental capacity to understand the nature of the legal proceedings. The case has been transferred to the mental health court.

The judge in that court will conduct a hearing to determine Amanda's mental competency.

Currently, the actress is going through a long-term treatment under a conservatorship.
