Mangalore, Mar 3: Aggressive ‘development’ within the city has made travel by road a miserable venture. The woes of the road users have fallen on deaf ears and the district administration and City Corporation have termed this development ‘inevitable’.
But a ray of hope is that the city will get good roads within a short period of time. As often said, ‘for good things in life one has to always wait’, road users too will have to put up with a short wait.
The Mangalore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) and the Mangalore City Corporation will take up road-work in phases in the city.
As per the plan, seven stretches, including the Mallikatta-Bunts Hostel Road, the Bunts Hostel-Jyothi Circle Road, Ganapathi Temple Road, the stretch from Mohini Vilas to Nehru Road and Sharavu Temple to Hampankatta will be taken up for improvement.
MCC on the other hand has taken up work on the Bejai-Circuit House Road, Kuntikana-Bejai Road, Kadri Temple Road, St Agnes-Bendoorwell Road, Urva Market-Mannagudda Road and Boloor-Ashoknagar Road.
