Dhoni and Shikhar fined for slow over rate


Ranchi, Sep 27 (IANS): Chennai Super Kings captain Mahendra Singh Dhnoi and Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper Shikhar Dhawan were fined after their teams maintained a slow over rate during the Champions LeagueT20 match here Thursday night at the Jharkhand State Cricket Stadium (JSCA).

"At the end of the match, Chennai Super Kings were assessed to be one over behind the required rate after allowances were taken into consideration. Since it was Dhoni's first offence of the season under the CLT20's Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, he (Dhoni) was fined $1,500 whilst each team member was fined $750," a statement from Champions League Twenty20 said.

"Sunrisers was also assessed to be one over behind the required rate after allowances were taken into consideration. Since it was his first offence of the season under the CLT20's Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, Dhawan was fined $1,500 whilst each team member was fined $750," the statement added.

Suresh Raina's brilliant all-round performance and a Dhoni blitzkrieg gave Chennai Super Kings a narrow 12-run victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad in Group B match of the Champions League Twenty20 at the JSCA International Stadium.
