Dubai, Sep 29: Pamboorians, an unit of Pamboorians UAE Family Meet, celebrated Nativity Feast "Monti Fest" in a traditional way together as one family at Winny's Restaurant, Karama, Dubai on Thursday, 12th September 2013 from 8.00 PM onwards. The special attraction of this year’s celebration was that the whole programme like M.C, prayers, dances, singing etc was carried out by children.
The traditional celebration started with prayer dance by Vedhisha and Viola.
Short procession by little children and teenagers with statue of “Maria Bambina’ (Infant Mary) with colorful flowers was carried out as a part of venerating and glorifying infant Mother Mary as per religious customs singing the traditional hymn‘’Sokkad Sangata Melyam’’ and gathered around the bambina. Prayer session was led by Joyce Menezes and little children. After the novena prayer, children joyfully showered flower petals on Infant Mary as the gathering sang the hymn ‘Moriyek Hogolshiyam”. ‘’Novem’’ with milk was served to all.
Main co-ordinator Ashok Menezes welcomed the gathering. Veronica Alva gave a brief message on the significance of this Feast and importance of Mother Mary in our life. Fr. Paul Rego, Parish Priest of Pamboor Church, in his recorded message asked all Pamboorians in UAE to stay united and carry out good work and showered God’s blessings.
The evening was filled with lots of entertainment and cultural events. The audience took active participation and was kept engaged with several games and spot prizes. Scintillating filmy dances by little children, Dwayne, Reeve, Keith, Rachel, Ashley & Jasmitha which attracted the audience. Little Child Leora D’Souza enthralled the audience with her melodious Konkani song “Kotrunja”. Special attraction of the evening was the hilarious comedy Konkani skit by comedy trio “VAS” (Valerian, Avil & Sunita) and was appreciated by all. Talented singers Ashok Menezes, Agnel Dsouza, Nikita Meneses & Diany D’Souza presented some of the best entertaining and melodious Konkani, Hindi and Kannada numbers. Kishore Noronha conducted Housie Housie game.
A traditional vegetarian meal "Novem Jevan" was prepared by Winny's Restaurant served on "shiratyo" (planton leaves) and was enjoyed by the gathering of around 90 people.
The programme was concluded by distribution of prizes and vote of thanks by Vice Co-ordinator Vijay Dhiraj D’Souza. All children were offered with gifts. Young talents of Pamboorians Ashley Alva and Jasmitha Mendonca took charge of the evening and compered the entire programme.
