Maldives foreign ministry summons Indian envoy


Male, Sep 29 (IANS): The Maldives foreign ministry summoned the Indian High Commissioner to Maldives Rajeev Shahare to lodge protest over his meeting with the country's Elections Commission.

According to a report in the Sun.mv online, an official from the Maldives foreign office met with the Indian envoy at 7 p.m. Friday.

"We had a meeting with the Indian High Commissioner last night, but we cannot reveal details of the meeting," the report quoted the official as saying Saturday.

Earlier Friday, Rajeev Shahare met the Maldives Elections Commissioner Fuwad Thowfeek, reported the Minivan News.
