Newell's Old Boys lead Argentine league


Buenos Aires, Sep 30 (IANS): Playing at home, Newell's Old Boys beat Argentinos Juniors 2-0 to once again lead Argentina's football league.

The match was played in 'Marcelo Bielsa' stadium in the central city of Rosario Sunday, reports Xinhua.

The first goal was scored in the 20th minute by two-time World Cup participant Maximiliano Rodriguez.

Rodriguez could have easily scored the second but missed a penalty in the 37th minute.

The second goal of Newell's was scored by Pablo Perez in the 70th minute.

With the victory, Newell's are on 20 points, one more than San Lorenzo, while Argentinos Juniors have 14.
