Bantwal, Oct 3: The principles of Mahatma Gandhi should not be made to remain confined to speech alone. It should be put into practice, said MP Nalin Kumar Kateel.

It is a welcome sign to see the dream of Ram Rajya seen by Mahatma Gandhi becoming a reality under the people awareness programme by Dr Veerendra Heggade. The programmes are successful as the workers have followed the sacrifice and devoted life of Mahatma Gandhi as an example in their lives. However the programmes of the government are becoming a failure due to lack of determination of the officials, he said.

Dr Heggade hopes of a Ram Rajya by making society free from drugs and have a family life. The activities of social organizations were the inspiration for the government to ban country liquor. The project should start a movement against drug mafia, he said.

Polali Ramakrishna Tapovan’s Sri Vivek Chaitanyananda Swamiji gave blessing and said that the greed of money takes a person to evil. A person can live a peaceful life by following in clean deeds, clean speech and clean thinking.

taluk people awareness forum president Kaiyur Narayana Bhat presided over the programme. Teacher Kotiappa Poojary was the resource person. Community development section director Jayarama Nellithaya, taluk people awareness forum founder president A C Bhandary, former MLA K Padmanabha Kottari, Town municipal council president Vasanthi C spoke as guests.
