Brazil, Argentina added to MotoGP calendar


Mies (Switzerland), Oct 3 (IANS): Brazil and Argentina have been included on the 2014 MotoGP calendar, the sport's governing body FIM announced.

The Nelson Piquet track in Brasilia will stage the championship's 15th round Sep 28 while the Termas de Rio Honda circuit in northern Argentina will host the year's third race April 27.

It is the first time since 2004 that Brazil has been included on the calendar of motorcycling's premier competition.

Argentina has not staged a motorcycle Grand Prix since 1999.

California's Laguna Seca circuit has been dropped from the 2014 circuit but the US remains represented by Indianapolis and Austin.
