Mangalore, Mar 7: A meeting to condole the death of eminent Konkani personality A V Rego of Bangalore was held under the auspices of the Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy in its meeting hall on Tuesday morning. Rego had earlier served as a member of the Academy's governing council for a term.

Academy president Eric Ozario lit the lamp in honour of the late Rego and welcomed the gathering. Entrepreneur Titus Noronha gave a graphic life-sketch of the dear departed with special emphasis on his Konkani-related and community-beneficial deeds of magnanimity.

The well-wishers who had gathered offered flower-petals to Rego's portrait. The gathering, among others,  included 'gumott' artiste Joachim Pereira, Academy members Vincent Alva Pamboor, Deepali Khambadakone and Usha Rane, music director Charan Kumar, Rachana president Rudolph D'Silva, Gladys Rego, writer-columnists Edie Netto and Stephen Quadros, Mitr sub editor Vitori Karkal, other Konkani activists like Stany Alvares and Kingsly Nazareth, Konkani and Tulu Academies' registrar Dr Duggappa Kajekar and deputy director of department of Kannada and culture Chandrappa.
