Mangalore, Mar 8: The excise police on Monday March 6 seized 875 litres of illicit spirit transported to Kerala. The spirit filled in 25 cans was transported to Kerala on a Tata Sumo vehicle and was held near KPT.

The police also seized the vehicle and arrested the driver Praveen Kumar alias Vishwanath a resident of Mudipu. The total value of the seized spirit is estimated at Rs 50,000 and the value of the seized vehicle is Rs 2 lac.

The raid was carried out as per the directive of M K Somayya, excise superintendent of Udupi and Dakshina Kannada district.
