Two Egyptian soldiers killed in militant attack

Cairo, Oct 4 (IANS): Two Egyptian soldiers were killed and two others injured in an attack by militants on their vehicle on the Cairo-Ismailia road, Xinhua reported Friday citing state-run al-Ahram Online.

The attack was carried out by unidentified militants who drove a car with no licence plate.

Military police have arrived at the scene and are combing the area in search of the attackers who have escaped into the desert.

A military helicopter is aiding in the search.

A policeman was killed Sep 24 and two others injured in a similar attack.

Since the Aug 14 dispersal operation against two sit-ins that supported ex-president Mohamed Morsi, security forces have been attacked in several areas across the country.
