Gurbani wins Chandigarh golf


Chandigarh, Oct 4 (IANS): Gurbani Singh representing the North Zone comfortably won the Chandigarh Ladies golf championship by a whopping margin of 11 strokes here Friday.

The win sees her further extending her lead at the top of the Indian Golf Union (IGU) Ladies Amateur Golf Tour 2013 Order of Merit list. Gurbani, the pre-tournament favourite, showed amazing consistency and maturity to lead right through the three day competition, where she was the only golfer to card a sub-par round on day 2 of the tournament.

Gursimar Badwal finished second with a total score of 231. Kanwal Singh Thakar, Arjuna Awardee and chief guest for the day, was at hand to give away the prizes to the proud winners. Tvesa Malik finished third overall and carded a 6 over 78 on the final day.

The IGU Ladies tour moves to Gurgaon’s Classic Golf Resort (Oct 8-11) and with a total of three more tournaments to go for the tour to conclude, Gurbani is looking good to again emerge as the best in the country.
