Many have made billions through politics, says Congress MP

Ambala, Oct 7 (PTI): A Congress MP from Haryana, who had earlier stirred a controversy with his 'Rs. 100 crore for a Rajya Sabha seat remark', on Sunday said there are many people who have made billions through politics.

"Nowadays, if somebody does not find anything else to do, then the best profession (dhanda) is politics. If people fail in business, in government jobs, cannot become a good engineer, doctor or lawyer, then they join politics," Rajya Sabha MP Chaudhary Birender Singh said at a gathering.

"And many of them succeed in such a way that they play not in millions but in billions and try to crush the right people in politics," said Singh, a known detractor of Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda.

Reacting to Singh's remarks, former IPS officer and activist Kiran Bedi said that politicians should declare their assets before becoming ministers and after ceasing to be one and, if the difference was found to be huge, the matter should be probed.

Noted lawyer and Aam Aadmi Party member Prashant Bhushan said the MP's remarks were "absolutely correct" and noted that politics had become an easy route for many to make money.

A few months back, the MP had kicked up a row after he claimed that there were people who were ready to shell out up to Rs. 100 crore to get a Rajya Sabha seat.

    How many honest politicians are found in all the political parties?
    What Oscr Wild said years back " politics is the business of the scoundrels" is very apt in recent times all over the world. Now the vast majority of the politicians are interested in hoarding more in the shortest span of their political life, but will preach equality-compassion etc in their political sermons will visit the religious worship centers to fool the electorate, also thinking that they can fool the ALMIGHTY GOD.

    Russia is the only Country where each and every Politicians including President’s income statement will be verified before and after their Political Career. If we follow the same system in India, I am sure more than 75% Politicians will land up in Jail only especially Leaders from Congress and Alliance Party. BJP and other Political Parties are not immune to corruptions but they got little chance to indulge in corruption. At least one such Congi Neta is not “Feku” But few other people even made Crores of rupees in cash or in kind being not in Politics too and you know the best example who is that gentleman is? So, the moral of story is, to make Crores of Rupees, no need to become Politicians but you can become Son-In-Law of any Politicians too

    Vijay Mallya may also clarify how he had become RS MP.
