Mangalore, Oct 9: ‘Torque’, the Mechanical Department Student Association of St Joseph Engineering College, Vamanjoor, here was inaugurated on Thursday October 3, at 3 pm in the department seminar hall.

Jaideep Rai, AGM-Service, Mandovi Motors Pvt Ltd, Mangalore was the chief guest. Dr Joseph Gonsalvis, principal, SJEC presided over the function.

Oliver Rodrigues, training officer, Mandovi Motors Pvt Ltd and Fr Joseph Lobo, director, SJEC were the guests of honour. Assistant director, Fr Rohit Dcosta, Dr Thirumaleswar Bhat, HOD of the mechanical department, Ravikanth Prabhu, faculty coordinator of Torque and Joel Concessao, president of Torque were present on the dais.

The student association was inaugurated by lighting the lamp.

Chief Guest Jaideep Rai in his message said, “Knowledge about history of mechanisms and the needs of day today life leads to innovations”. He also stated that knowledge, skill and attitude are the important factors that help to sustain in the corporate world.

Fr Joseph Lobo, director, in his speech motivated the students to unite their ideas for a brighter future. Dr Joseph Gonsalvis urged the students to be actively involved with the association activities.

Joel Concessao, the president of Torque welcomed the dignitaries. Vikram Kamble, vice president of Torque proposed the vote of thanks. Vishnu compered the program.

The program concluded with a seminar on ‘Advancement in Automobile Technology’ by Oliver Rodrigues, training officer, Mandovi Motors Pvt Ltd.
