Udupi, Mar 12: Following the recent terroist attacks on Varanasi Sankat Mochan Temple, security has been beefed up at Udupi Sri Krishna Math since Saturday, March 11.

Superintendent of Police Udupi district S Murugan has tightened security and surveillance has been beefed up at Sri Krishna Temple here and Sri Mookambika Temple at Kollur in Udupi district. He said security has been tightened from two angles-one is access control and the other is better preparedness.

A sniffer dog team has been deputed on guard at the temple. Many security arrangements were made in the temple premises.

A metal detector has been installed at the entrance of the temple. A team of seven police constables has been deputed at the Kanaka Gopura of the Krishna Math to keep an eye on the movements of devotees. More than 20 police constables have been deployed at Car Street and Rajangana.
