Chinese distance runner banned for doping


Beijing, Oct 18 (IANS): Chinese distance runner Sun Juan has been suspended for two years for a doping offence.

Sun, who turns 28 next month, returned positive for testosterone in an out-of-competition test April 26, 2013, the CAA said in a statement Thursday, reports Xinhua.

Sun was also fined 20,000 yuan (about $3,257). Her coach Jin Haipeng was banned for two years and also fined 20,000 yuan.

Sun was the runner-up in the Xiamen International Marathon in 2010. She finished fifth in last year's Beijing International Marathon, clocking a personal best of 2 hours 28 minutes 39 seconds.
