Chinese delegation explores investment potential in UP


Lucknow, Oct 18 (IANS): A high-level Chinese delegation Friday visited Noida, Greater Noida and the Yamuna Expressway to explore business and investment potential in Uttar Pradesh, a state government official said.

China is exploring possibilities of establishing manufacturing clusters. During the day-long trip, the delegation visited the Indian handicrafts and gifts fair at India Expo Centre and Mart, Moser Baer unit, Knowledge Park-II and the Gautam Buddha University.

The Greater Noida Authority made a presentation on investment options to the visiting delegation at the JP Greens resort.

The delegation included Sui Dongning, Cao Xun and Pang Meng of the China Development Bank; Wang Qihui of Department of Asian Affairs, Ministry of Commerce; Zhao Yuelong of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Engineering; Ma Yiliang of China Tourism Academy; Zhang Hao of China Power Engineering Consulting Group Corporation; Qiao Wehi of China Centre for Information Industry Development; and Wang Hejum, Zha Jinxiang and Sun Jing from the Chinese embassy in India.

Officials of companies like Huawei, ZTE and Haier were also part of the delegation.

Surya Pratap Singh, principal secretary, infrastructure and industrial development department (IIDD), told IANS that the visit took place after several rounds of interactions and presentations on the existing and upcoming infrastructure facilities and incentives available in the state.

"Impressed with mass consumer base and readily available natural and human resources in the state along with industry-friendly approach of the state government, the Chinese have also consented to visit sites of proposed industrial areas at Firozabad and Kannauj" he added.

The delegation is expected to visit Formula 1 race track Sunday travelling on Yamuna Expressway on way to see site of proposed industrial area in Firozabad along with extant glass industry and perfume city of Kannauj.
