China sacks mayor of Nanjing city


Beijing, Oct 19 (IANS): The mayor of China's Nanjing city Ji Jianye was sacked from his post for suspected serious disciplinary violations, authorities said Saturday.

The decision was made by the organisation department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, Xinhua reported.

Ji was also the deputy secretary of the Nanjing municipal committee of the CPC.

On Thursday, the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection said Ji was under investigation.
