Tapendra leads in junior Punjab golf


Chandigarh, Oct 23 (IANS): Tapendra Ghai played a clinical round of one under 71 on the second day of the Usha IGU Punjab Juniors Golf Championship at the Chandigarh Golf Club to lead after the second round with a total score of 148 here Wednesday.

Mohan Sardar also had a great outing and finished at one under 71 and a total of 150 and is lying second. S. Abhishek Shankar with a total of 151 is third.

Overnight leader Adil Bir Singh had a disappointing second round and is lying at eighth position with a total of 154.

Tapendra sank three birdies on the third, seventh and eighth holes to get off to a great start. Bogeys in the 14th and 18th cost him an even better return. Mohan had three birdies in the second, fifth and 17th holes. He had two bogeys at the first and the last holes.

Pukhraj Singh Gill with a total score of 151 is tied third along with Abhishek. Jairaj Singh Sandhu is fifth with 153. Karandeep Kochar and Saptak Talwar are placed sixth with identical scores of 154.
