Acquitted of rape, man again accused of molestation

Gurgaon, Oct 23 (IANS): A man was Wednesday acquitted of rape charge but the complainant woman in the case alleged she was molested outside the court by the acquitted man and his brother.

Abhay Singh, 27, brother of Arvind Singh, 24, acquitted of rape charge by the court of additional district judge Alka Malik, was detained for allegedly molesting the complainant woman.

A woman, 28, filed complaint of rape against Arvind, April 25 at the Udyog Vihar police station.

Arvind was a manager in an export house in Udyog Vihar while the complainant was an employee in the same firm.

After the court's verdict Wednesday, the brother duo started celebrations on the court premises and allegedly molested the woman while distributing sweets.

"The woman made a call to the police control room. Arvind, however, managed to escape from the scene while Abhay was taken into custody," a lawyer, who did not wish to be named, told IANS.

"We are verifying the facts," Arvind Kumar, head of police post Khandsa said.

Earlier, in the day, the court said framed charges could not be proved.

The woman alleged in her complaint that Arvind and she were living as husband and wife for the past more than four years and she was raped on the pretext of marriage.

The defence lawyer produced four witnesses, including two landlords of houses where Arvind was living during the past four years. The two, however, told the court that Arvind was living alone and they never saw the complainant there.

The complainant had told the investigation officer that she was unmarried, but later it was established she had wedded some other person and was mother of an 11-year-old boy, studying in a private school in the Badshahpur area.

The FSL report said no semen was detected on the woman's inner clothing.
