Seven Kashmiri civilians injured in Pakistani shelling


Jammu, Oct 24 (IANS): Seven civilians were injured Thursday evening in shelling by Pakistani troops in Kanachak sector of the international border in Jammu and Kashmir.

A senior police officer told IANS that Pakistan Rangers used mortars and small arms to target paramilitary Border Security Force (BSF) posts.

He said: "Some shells fired by the Rangers exploded in Garkhal village of Kanachak today (Thursday) evening, injuring seven people, including four women and a child. All the injured are members of a family.

"The injured are being shifted to a hospital. BSF troops have retaliated the unprovoked firing by the Pakistani troops. Till last reports came in, exchange of fire were going on in the area."
