Mumbai, Oct 25 (IANS): A benchmark index of Indian equities markets was trading flat at about 48 points or 0.23 percent down in the pre-noon trade Friday.
Selling pressure was observed in capital goods, metal and auto sectors while some positive buying was seen in technology, media and entertainment (TECK) sector.
The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the S&P Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 20,725.52 points, was trading at 20,677.77 points in the pre-noon session, down 47.66 points or 0.23 percent from previous day's close at 20,725.43 points.
The Sensex touched a high of 20,738.76 points and a low of 20,643.40 points during trade so far.
The S&P BSE capital goods index plunged 159.79 points, metal index dropped 147.51 points and auto index slipped 137.41 points. However, TECK index gained 72.24 points.
The wider 50-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) was also trading flat at 22.75 points or 0.37 percent down at 6,141.60 points.
