Vani Kapoor takes lead in Hero Women's Golf


Greater Noida, Oct 30 (IANS): Delhi’s Vani Kapoor Wednesday played an extremely cautious round under tough conditions to emerge as the leader at the end of the second day’s play in final event of the Hero Women’s Professional Golf Tour here.

The INR 5,00,000 event is being played at the par 72 Jaypee Greens Golf Course here.

Vani finished the second round with a total score of 141 (68;73) after 36 holes. Her round consisted of three birdies on the 4th, 6th and 16th holes and four bogeys on the 7th, 10th, 14th and 15th holes. Trailing Vani by two shots is Bangalore golfer Sharmila Nicollet.

Sharmila finished her second round with a total score of 143 (67,76) with five birdies on the 2nd, 8th, 10th, 12th and 13th holes. She also had three double bogeys on the 3rd, 15th and 17th holes along with two bogeys on the 4th and 7th holes.

Amateur golfer Millie Saroha is placed third with a total score of 146 (70;76) after 36 holes. Kolkata’s Neha Tripathi (78;75), Chandigarh’s Saniya Sharma (72;81) and Bengaluru’s Rani Sonti (75;78) are tied for the fourth position with identical scores of 153. Preetinder Kaur (81;77) and Niki Ponappa (79;79) are tied for the seventh place with identical scores of 158 after 36 holes.

The Women’s Professional Golf Tour 2013 comprises a total of fourteen legs spanning across key locations in India.
