Man detained for disturbing CSL match

Jinan (China), Oct 31 (IANS): A male football fan has been detained for disturbing a Chinese Super League (CSL) match with a laser pointer.

During the match between Shandong Luneng and Beijing Guoan, in the 29th round game of the Chinese Super League in Jinan Olympic Stadium Wednesday night, a man flashed a laser pointer in the faces of visiting team players and of the referees, reports Xinhua.

The football fan, caught red-handed by the police in the stadium, confessed that he hid a laser pointer while entering the stadium and irradiated the players and fans of the visiting team repeatedly after the match kicked off. He also attempted to blind the referees with the pointer.

A police officer with Lixia Branch of Jinan Public Security Bureau, who is in charge of safety of the stadium, said Thursday the man would be held in custody for five days.

Host Shandong Luneng lost 1-3 to Beijing Guoan but secured second place in the AFC Super League, while Guoan pocketed a ticket to AFC champions League with the triumph.
