India beat China 4-2 in women's hockey


Kakamigahara (Japan), Nov 2 (IANS): The Indian women's hockey team scored twice in each half to defeat higher ranked China 4-2 in their opening match of the third Asian Champions Trophy here Saturday.

Poonam Rani scored the first goal for India in the eighth minute by converting a penalty corner. Five minutes later Amandeep Kaur scored a field goal on her debut.

In the 59th minute, Poonam scored another goal after picking a perfect pass from Namita Toppo. The fourth goal came in the 61st minute when Vandana deflected the ball into the net.

India will play their next match against Malaysia on Monday.
