Countdown for India's Mars Orbiter Mission begins

Chennai, Nov 3 (IANS): The countdown for the India's ambitious Rs.430-crore Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM) began Sunday 6.08 a.m. at Sriharikota rocket port in Andhra Pradesh, a space agency official said.

The countdown to the flight of Indian rocket Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV-C25) will be for 56.30 hours which is expected to blast off at 2.38 p.m. Tuesday, said an Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) official who did not wish to be named.

On Saturday, all the pre-countdown activities were carried out after ISRO's Launch Authorisation Board (LAB) gave it the green signal for the rocket's flight Nov 1 from Sriharikota, around 80 km from here.

According to ISRO, the MOM objectives are two fold -- technological and scientific.

The technological objectives include design and realisation of Mars orbiter with a capability to survive and perform Earth bound manoeuvres, cruise phase of 300 days, Mars orbit insertion/capture, and on-orbit phase around Mars.

It will also enable deep space communication, navigation, mission planning and management and incorporate autonomous features to handle contingency situations.

The scientific mission will be to explore the Mars surface features, morphology, mineralogy and Martian atmosphere by indigenous scientific instruments.

Why some readers here are always bringing dirty party politics in every subject. ISRO is not connected to any party and ISRO's achievement has got nothing to do with any individual Political party and some of the politicians don't even know the full form of ISRO.

For poverty we all are responsible not the rulers alone because only 3 percent of the 1.2 billion population pay taxes, rest of them are enjoying and claiming benefits of those 3 percent paid taxes. One of them is you Mr. Patric who is enjoying the benefit. Out of that 3 percent tax paid the scientists are using that money just to show off to China that we are ahead of you.

It is not PLATO but it is PLUTO. It is now considered as Dwarf Planet.n 2003, an astronomer saw a new object beyond Pluto. The astronomer thought he had found a new planet. The object he saw was larger than Pluto. He named the object Eris (EER-is).

Finding Eris caused other astronomers to talk about what makes a planet a "planet." There is a group of astronomers that names objects in space. This group decided that Pluto was not really a planet because of its size and location in space. So Pluto and objects like it are now called dwarf planets.

Supposedly in the tenure of BJP mars mission was conducted, this daijiworld blog might have been filled with praises like anything to BJP. See the comment only one comment from a BJP supporter
This commentator is telling superstitions and if congress does so it is with black spots with unholy because of Moily. And if BJP does it is pure, holy, jolly and not folly.
These BJP leaders and their supporters are Deishdhrohies/traitors.

If you consider all Hindus are BJP supporters then I have to consider all Muslims are the supporters of IUML or MQM (even though it is NOT true) and all Catholics are Sonia supporters only because she is a Catholic and if she were a Protestant then same people would not have supported her (even though this is also true).

    Mission and Vision

It is Mars One's goal to establish a human settlement on Mars. Human settlement of Mars is the next giant leap for humankind.

When India's ambitious Rs.430-crore Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM) becomes successful and then the scientific mission will study and explore the
Mars surface. Once they come to know that if life can exist on Mars, then I am sure India will plan to send half of the 1.2 billion population to Mars.

Is there any other reason why India is investing such a huge amount of money on this Mars Orbiter Mission. What else is the purpose of this mission. Is it just to impress the world and be proud and say to China we did it before you, because China's Mission to Mars was a failure in 2011.

MUCH goes bang over India at this time of year, amid celebrations for Diwali, the Hindu festival of light. By one estimate, Indians spend over $800m a year on fireworks. But, in cosmic terms, they barely leave the ground. How much more exciting that a single, 4.5 billion-rupee, that is $74 Million, rocket is set to whoosh high into the sky on November 5th.

Before all these final preparation they took a replica of Rocket to all holy places of all Religions, and then consulted a Jyothishi to fix auspicious Muhurta for launch of Rocket and performed various poojas for rocket.
ISRO the Premier Scientist institution itself is spreading superstitions. This is the PARADOX of India .
